April 22, 2011 - Amazon EC2 Outage
Yesterday, popular retail brand, Amazon’s cloud web hosting service, Amazon EC2 was thrown out of gear. Although the reason of the sudden outage is still unknown, scores of websites that rely on Amazon’s services had temporarily shut down. ShipHazmatOnLine was affected during the outage. Amazon, however, claims to have fixed the glitch in its service is was now accessible.
We at Hazmat Software are working closely with Amazon to ensure that this does not affect our customers in the future. Even though we have redundant servers on Amazon's west coast data center our servers were not able to switch according to the current recovery plan. We are making changes to the way we monitor and switch our service when an outage occurs.
